10 Loves Friday- Hurry Up Spring!

Happy Friday Everyone! Today is the first day in almost a week that the sun is out and it’s not raining. It made me so excited and now I can’t wait for Spring to come! This week’s Favorites Friday is going to be about the top 10 things I love about spring. Hope you enjoy!
1)      Pretty flowers- I don’t know if I am the only one that thinks this, but flowers always look prettier in the spring. I think that’s partly because winter is usually so drab that the bright colors just automatically look better. Last year I got into the habit of buying fresh flowers each Sunday and putting them throughout the house. It always made me smile when I walked into the rooms, so I think I am going to continue that this year!

2)      Baby animals- you always see pictures of baby sheep and calf in the spring. They are so flipping adorable and innocent. Pictures like this one make me want a farm so badly. Michael is in trouble now… :)

3)      Rain/Rainbows- I love it when I see a rainbow. It always reminds me of Wizard of Oz, which is one of my all-time favorite movies. I just think they are the prettiest things. By the way, does anyone know why they never have a beginning or end?

4)      Great Weather- I love sunny, not to warm/too cold weather.  I think that’s one of the main reasons why I love spring. I am able to break out my spring dresses, but can still wear my comfy, oversized sweaters too. The dogs love spring because they get walked multiple times a day…and you can’t beat that!

5)      Wedding Season- I LOVE wedding season. I get super busy with brides and it is always so much fun to hear their stories. I really am honored when I am able to be a part of a bride’s special day.

6)      Coral- I am slightly obsessed with shades of orange. I love burnt orange in the fall and coral in the spring. While I love winter (for the snow) it still doesn’t feel right to wear coral pieces. I am stoked to break out my spring clothing!

7)      Garage Sales/Farmers Markets- There are two things that can get me to jump out of bed on a Saturday morning. One is garage sales and the second is farmers markets. They are seriously the best part of my weekend (most times) and it is a great way for Michael and I to spend time together. I know that sounds ridiculous, but it’s the one thing I can rely on him to go to with me.
                                                                               via
8)      Easter- Now I know that rabbits are not the reason for Easter, but I wanted a cute picture! :) I am Catholic and Easter is the magical day that I can indulge in that one thing that I fasted for Lent.  *in my whiniest 4 year old voice* Is it Easter yet?!?!
                                                                          via
9)      Daylight Savings- YAY for more sun time! it is depressing leaving work when it’s dark out. I love it when it stays light out super late. To me that signifies BBQs, camping and more walks for the dogs because I hate walking them in the dark.
                                                                              via
10)      Puppy Parties- 2 of the 3 dogs were born in April, and my cat was born in May. Usually we throw them a party and I go all out. It is always a blast (as long as Chico doesn’t get town in doggy jail like she did for her first birthday....that’s a story for another blog though.) I can’t wait to start planning it. Who wants to come?

Have a great weekend everyone!

10 Oscar Fashion Loves

Who all watched the Oscars last night?? This is the only awards show that I will sit through and that is due to all of the great (and questionable) fashion! Because I skipped my Favorites Friday, I am going to be a fashion critic for a Favorites Monday. Make sense? Good! :)

I thought I'd share my top 10 Oscar dresses for the year. I changed this list so many times before I decided to just let it be. There were so many great dresses, but these were the dresses that I loved and would wear when they finally realize I would be a blast at the Oscars!

10 Question (Loves) Friday

Well things are still crazier than ever, but I found this questionnaire about things that I am loving right now and I figured it fit for my 10 Loves Friday. I hope you all enjoy! :)
1. What's your favorite place in the United States?
I really don't have a favorite place. I love different areas of the country at different times of year. New York City is really pretty at Christmas time. Nashville will always have a piece of my heart because it was my first realvacation with Michael and is country, country, country. Oh yeah…Disneyland will always have a special place in my heart too. :)

2. Where would you love to visit that you've never been before?
New Orleans and Savannah. Those are definitely on the list of must see places!

 3. Favorite song you're loving right now?
Eden’s Edge- Amen is the song I find myself playing on my itunes the most lately. For some reason I just love that song right now!

4. Good book recommendation?
I loved The Paris Wife! It was written by Paula McLain
Overview (from Barnes & Noble's website)
A deeply evocative story of ambition and betrayal, The Paris Wife captures a remarkable period of time and a love affair between two unforgettable people: Ernest Hemingway and his wife Hadley.
Chicago, 1920: Hadley Richardson is a quiet twenty-eight-year-old who has all but given up on love and happiness—until she meets Ernest Hemingway and her life changes forever. Following a whirlwind courtship and wedding, the pair set sail for Paris, where they become the golden couple in a lively and volatile group—the fabled “Lost Generation”—that includes Gertrude Stein, Ezra Pound, and F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald.
Though deeply in love, the Hemingways are ill prepared for the hard-drinking and fast-living life of Jazz Age Paris, which hardly values traditional notions of family and monogamy. Surrounded by beautiful women and competing egos, Ernest struggles to find the voice that will earn him a place in history, pouring all the richness and intensity of his life with Hadley and their circle of friends into the novel that will become The Sun Also Rises. Hadley, meanwhile, strives to hold on to her sense of self as the demands of life with Ernest grow costly and her roles as wife, friend, and muse become more challenging. Despite their extraordinary bond, they eventually find themselves facing the ultimate crisis of their marriage—a deception that will lead to the unraveling of everything they’ve fought so hard for.
A heartbreaking portrayal of love and torn loyalty, The Paris Wife is all the more poignant because we know that, in the end, Hemingway wrote that he would rather have died than fallen in love with anyone but Hadley.
5. What's your best quality?
I'm a bright side kind of person - it's always half full. Some people find this quality annoying, but some days it’s the only way I am able to get through the day.

6. What is something about yourself you'd like to change?
Just one thing? I would probably change a half dozen things if I could…but the main thing is my drive to clean. I love my house being clean, but I never seem to find the time it takes to actually keep it clean. With 3 dogs and a cat it feels like there is always hair on the floors…even 30 minutes after I clean. It is so frustrating sometimes!

7. What is the number one thing you hope to accomplish in 2012?
Pay off all of our debt!

8. What is your favorite project that you've ever accomplished?
Well I am in the middle of accomplishing it right now, but I am really starting to love the look of our house. Floors go in next week, furniture gets here next month and the painting is about half done. :)

9. What is the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you?
I have had a lot of nice things done for me, but the one that sticks out the most is my MIL throwing Michael and I a reception after we got married. I absolutely loved it and it was beyond gorgeous. It really was more than I could have asked for and I will always be grateful to her for that day.

10. Favorite kitchen or home improvement tool?
My Kitchen Aid mixer gets a ton of use now. :)
