just the two of us

So this last Tuesday the hubs went back to work. It was so strange just not having everyone and their brother (and sister, cousin, mother & dog) here. Honestly, I didn't quite know what to do without all of the hustle and bustle. Jackson and I finally got to just hang out! Man was it nice!
As nice as it was, it was short lived because my Uncle & Aunt came into town to meet Jackson. They wanted to hit up a few of the wineries that we are members at so before I knew it I was *that mom* for the afternoon. You know the kind of mom that you swore you'd never be like...the one you commented under your breath about to your friends? I never understood why adults needed to bring their children to a winery. I just didn't understand... I mean it couldn't be that fun for them. Well now I can't judge!

Anyway, back to the point. haha. We headed over to two of the wineries that the hubs and I are members at. They enjoyed tasting and I was able to pickup two shipments of wine. Win win!

Later in the week Jackson had his 6 week check-up. He was given thumbs up in all areas and the doctor was very happy with his weight gain. While 9lbs 12oz may not be a lot to most; you have to remember that this little guy came early and under 6 lbs. He gained almost 3 whole lbs in 6 weeks. Boobie milk...does a body good. ;)

Overall our first week sans hubby went really well. I was able to figure out some sort of a "routine"...at least as much I can have one with a 6 week old. Jackson was able to meet some additional family members and we enjoyed tummy time much more when there wasn't an army of visitors surrounding us. :)

week 32 bumpdate

Well I am a few days late posting (currently 33w1d) but I figured posting my huge tummy was a good way to end the week. :)

How Far Along? Photo taken @ 32 weeks 6 days.
Size of Baby P? Babycenter.com says Jackson is about 3.75lbs but when I saw my doctor yesterday she said that he is measuring almost 4.5lbs. Yay for chunky babies. :)
Maternity Clothes? Still a mixture.
Weight Gain? 19lbs
Stretch Marks? Nope.
Gender? He's all Boy!
Sleep? Still not sleeping well. I can't fall asleep until around midnight every night and I am up every 1-2 hours to use the restroom.
Food Cravings? no real cravings this week...surprisingly.
What I Miss? Looking at pictures of myself and not feeling like I am huge. :)
Symptoms? Still just the acid reflex & heartburn.
Belly Button? In-betweenie.
Best Moment of the Week? I enjoyed a spa/gambling weekend with some girlfriends over the weekend. It was so relaxing and very, very needed. Monday I had my doctors appointment and was told my baby is measuring big. It made my day since I love me some chunky babies.

Here are a few photos from this week.
  Melissa & I after a massage & facial. :)

invasion of baby jordans!

I am not sure if I have ever mentioned the hubs complete and total obsession with Michael Jordan shoes. Now when I saw obsession...I really do mean obsession. The past 3 Christmases he has gotten me up at 4am so we could both log onto websites to purchase their special edition shoes. I've even gone to the mall at 2am to purchase a pair for his Christmas present. Now I mention that to show how good of a girlfriend I was before I became a good wifey. :) However, it is something that I will never do again because I seriously feared for my life that night with all of the other crazies that do that!

Anyway, back to my point. I was working in the nursery today and I started to unbox all of Jackson's clothing, baby booties and shoes when I noticed a trend. Almost every single pair of shoes/baby bootie my child owns has the jumpman logo on it...and I didn't buy them! Now I knew that he was buying some baby shoes because he is getting the baby shoes that match his...but I didn't realize the extent to which this had gone because I just put all of them in the closet...

The hubs "collection" of Jordans. This doesn't include the 2 pairs I am holding hostage and the 6 that he wears often so they are in a different area of the closet. For those of you that don't want to count that, I will make it easy for you. That's 36!

Jackson's new collection which doesn't include the two orange & black (Giants colors so I approve) booties that have been ordered, the pair that the hub's mom bought him for Christmas that I just remembered about... AND the 2c pair that is also on it's way.

What I have bought for Jackson...

You think my husband is happy we are having a baby boy so he can have a "mini me"? LOL!

Week 27 Bumpdate

How Far Along? Photo taken @ 27 weeks 4 days.
Size of Baby P? This week my baby is measuring in similar to a head of cauliflower. I find that interesting considering I feel like I am the size of a house...
Maternity Clothes? Still a mixture.
Weight Gain? I am going to guess between 15-17 lbs. I go in on Thursday so I will know for sure then. :)
Stretch Marks? Nope.
Gender? Boy
Sleep? Still can't sleep at night, but I can take naps during the day. Not sure what the difference is, but I won't complain.
Food Cravings? Ice Cream and raspberries. yummmmm
What I Miss?  Sleep....I'll even go as far as saying sleeping on my stomach.
Symptoms? Just feeling bloated, heartburn is still here and the headaches from you know where.
Belly Button? It's an in-betweenie. :)
Best Moment of the Week? We went out this last weekend and celebrated some of our friends graduating from multiple things. I went back to school earlier this year but have put it on the backburner the last few months. Now I am itching to go back again. Crazy notion considering my time will be spent with baby J.

Guess who’s back…and with a BIG announcement

I remember chanting a rhyme back in grade school to tease the girl and a boy that liked each other. I would like to think that most elementary schools joined in on this fun, coming of age event... so let's see who remembers how it goes.

First comes love, Then comes marriage, Then comes a BABY in the baby carriage.

I am sure most of you have noticed that I've been MIA for the last few weeks and now you all know why. Yes my dear friends, Michael and I are expecting a baby next March. We are so very excited about the future and can't wait to meet our little peanut.

I have seen a ton of cute weekly updates since I've joined the blogging world and am very happy to be able to join the club of expectant mothers!

Just under 30 weeks until our little peanut makes his or her debut. This is going to be such a fun ride!

May Madness??

No, I am not talking about basketball...I am talking about the last 31 days. To say it's been crazy is an understatement. The only problem is I wouldn't have it any other way. :)

Here is a quick recap my last month...

Cinco de Derby/Derby de Mayo (it's been called both)
We had a total blast that day. It started out as a derby party...
and then turned into a Mexican fiesta...

And then, in true Powell spirit, turned into a poker night with those left standing after all that tequila...
We had about 25 people over that day and went through 3 handles of tequila, a ton of beer and not so much sangria. :) Derby de Mayo= success!

Next up was my work retreat in Napa. It was so nice to take a few days away from work and enjoy my co-workers. A few of the wives put the retreat together and it was a lot of fun!

please don't mind the crazy hair and half done makeup. It was hot/humid and almost 8pm by the time this picture was taken...

all of the ladies and some of the men went on a wine tasting tour while the rest of the guys were off golfing. Our driver/tour guide was wonderful and I loved that we tasted at wineries none of us had been to before.

Next up was Mother's Day. My parents came into town for the brunch that I talked about hereThe hub's mom ended up being sick that day, so we had a few people less than we had expected. It was fine though because it meant there were a lot of leftovers! It was nice to spend time with my parents, the hub's dad and his sister's family. So nice in fact that I totally forgot to take photos! :(

Wine Tasting (take 2?)
Earlier this year a friend of ours planned a wine tasting limo ride for a group of us. When the day actually came though the limo ended up being a party bus. Of course we were happy and there turned out to be some ridiculously funny video footage to come out of our wine happy event. Unfortunately I promised that footage would never see the world wide web...

A Heart Attack Scare
My father-in-law suffered a major heart attack on 5/21. The stars were aligned because everything that could have gone wrong went right. Within a few hours of having stints put in he was talking and cracking jokes like normal. It was so scary and the hubs and I were not thrilled to be back at Kaiser, but we were very relieved when we found out he was going to be okay.

Memorial Day Camping
With our cornhole set it tow, we prepared ourselves for another long, drunken weekend.
What started out as a fun trip down to the lake ended up not so fun... We got to the site and setup only for me to start to get sick again. By Saturday afternoon I was so sick that I just went back to the tent and slept...while it was raining. haha. I woke up to the hubs sounding like a pedophile because his allergies were so bad he had no voice. We made the executive decision to pack up and leave early. It was a good thing we did because this is how our Memorial Day ended...
Fun right?? Thank goodness for Kaiser!

So, now you know the craziness that has taken over my life for the last month! 99% of it was a blast, 1 % of it, well...I would have rather been shopping or something fun. :) :) :)

Oh, and I just have to mention to Miss Riss that even though the Giants lost last night, they beat the Dbacks for the series. hehehe. If you have no idea why I just said that, check out the comment section of this post. It should clear it up. :)

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Mine was fun and not nearly long enough! I ended up going back into the doctors on today so it was not the best ending to my weekend, but it was an ending none-the-less.
Friday
Friday was my FIL's birthday so Michael got Kings tickets for him. It is a running joke in our family that in the last 4 years of dating Michael, the Kings have not won a single game that I was sitting in the stands for. Now if you watch the NBA you would know that isn't saying much...but still! I was hoping that night would be different since it we were there for a birthday instead of a just because game. WRONG. They lost by like 10 points and the only time it was close was in the first quarter. I love my husband and FIL, but the Kings really are not that fun to watch.

Saturday
I love Saturday's because it means one thing...garage sales! Michael and I love scoping different garage sales to see what we can find. It is very hit or miss, but when it's a hit...it's a huge hit. This last Saturday we scored holiday decorations, a creeper for working on the vehicles, some pictures for the dining room, 3 vintage barbies for an AMAZING price (I collect vintage barbies) and a coffee table. We are still in the process of redecorating (pictures will be up when we are finished) and the coffee table was exactly what I was looking for. The best part? It's ZGalleries and it was only $40 bucks! Like I said, score!
Honestly, I don't think there was one thing we bought that I wasn't completly over the moon with. I think I left every garage sale thinking it was that much better than the last. It was crazy and I loved it!

Then I met up with my MIL & SIL for a Stella & Dot party. I love jewerly and found some really amazing pieces.

They ship the orders, so I am excited to receive them.

Later that afternoon we were invited over to a friend's house for the UFC fight. They had a pool going and Michael won it! It was a really fun night full of laughs, drinks and of course, great friends.

Sunday
Sunday we woke up and got ready for church. Michael never had been to church before dating me so it is still a work in progress. He knows it is very important to me to raise our kids knowing that Sunday mornings are reserved for Chuch so he is slowly working into it. I love that he is willing to go with/for me and hopefully, one day, he goes for himself.

After church we went to a few of the wineries that we are members at and enjoyed a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Right now I am curled up on the sofa writting this blog while waiting for Michael to finish BBQing the steak. Dinner tonight will consist of a fruit salad, broccoli, steak and garlic bread. YUM.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and even better week!

Surgery= Blogger’s Bust!

Well, I feel like I have officially fallen off the blogger radar because I've been gone so long! Some of you may know that I had surgery in late March and there were a few unexpected complications. After almost a month, I am finally back to work and into my normal routine. This means that I will start having some time (and energy) to get back into blogging!! :)

Since my last blog I've spent a ton of time catching up on some of my favorite shows...
 &

...and even managed to fall in love with a few new ones!!

I was able to finish planning our first annual (at least that is the goal) Mother's Day Brunch. I had some invites made up from this etsy store. It was so inexpensive and she was so easy to work with. I loved it! I really enjoy hearing from our family right now because they have all said something about how cute the invites are. What do you think??
This is what they see when they open the envelope...

This is what the invite says... (sorry it is sideways. :-/)

This is the how it pulls apart. I just loved the flower pot idea for Mother's Day!

Easter came and went. It really was a wonderful day. We spend the morning at church and then we went over to my in-laws to celebrate with them. We have lost both of Michael's grandmothers since the new year began, so spending the holiday with them was very important to us.

I was able to finally get my new layout uploaded too! What do you think? I love it so stinking much!! I had the chance to work with one of the nicest bloggers/ etsy store owners out there! I searched high and low for someone that could design exactly what I had pictured in my head, but didn't exactly know how to verbalize it. Jana was absolutely wonderful and was even making some changes for me up until this last weekend. If you ever want to spruce up your blog, and don't know how, contact her. I highly  recommend her!

Considering I wasn't able to move around or do much these last few weeks I feel like I still accomplished a lot! How have you all been??

Happy Birthday Sissy!

Today is my sister’s 24th birthday and since I can’t be with her today I wanted to wish her a very happy birthday!

In honor of her birthday, here are a few photos of us together throughout the years!
