10 Oscar Fashion Loves

Who all watched the Oscars last night?? This is the only awards show that I will sit through and that is due to all of the great (and questionable) fashion! Because I skipped my Favorites Friday, I am going to be a fashion critic for a Favorites Monday. Make sense? Good! :)

I thought I'd share my top 10 Oscar dresses for the year. I changed this list so many times before I decided to just let it be. There were so many great dresses, but these were the dresses that I loved and would wear when they finally realize I would be a blast at the Oscars!

I've been tagged!! :)

How cool is that? Married With a Pup tagged me for a game. Yay!! (okay, okay, no making fun of me. I just love when other people read my little blog and seeing my name on someone else's blog just really made my day!)

Here are the rules:

1. Post the rules.
2. Answer the 11 questions from the person who tagged you.
3. Create 11 new questions for the people you tag.
4. Tag people and link them to your post.
5. Let them know that you tagged them.

1.       Where is your dream vacation and why?
Our goal is to hit all 7 continents…so if I had a dream vacation I would just make the loop in a very extended vacation!
2. If somebody handed you $5,000, no questions asked, what would you do with it? I’d put half of it in the bank and take half of it to go on a shopping spree. As long as Michael got a few new pairs of Jordans, he would be totally okay with it!
3. What is your favorite dessert? I am easy…hot fudge Sunday.
4. If you could start your own business tomorrow, what would it be? I would want to open up an antique/vintage shop in old town. I am obsessed with the one off of Ghost Whisperer and would totally recreate that.
5. What do you wish your phone can do that it cannot? I wish that it had reception 24/7. It wouldn’t matter where I was; it would always work.
6. What is one personality characteristic that you've always had? Confidence. My parents told me that I used to board airplanes as a toddler and talk to people on my way to the seat. I have always been confident in myself and been able to stand up for myself. I never needed people to validate who I was, thankfully!
7. If you had to choose, would you prefer to have a personal assistant or a driver? Oh wow…good question. Probably a driver. Thankfully most of the things I hate doing Michael does, so there isn’t much I would need a personal assistant for.
8. What is one thing you can do that relaxes you? Snuggle by the fire with a good book. I am a total book worm and it is so relaxing to me to curl up and become someone else for awhile.
9. What is your favorite website? Hmmm. Can I pick more than 1? I am going to say yahoo mail, pinterest, etsy & blogspot. I usually manage to hit all of these sites before 9am.
10. Do you and your family have any traditions that you will/want to pass on to your kids? My family always got together for the holidays and we always went on a mini vacation/day trip the day after Christmas. I think back to all of those fun outings and that is something I remember very fondly.
11. Are there any cleaning tips that you have discovered that will change our lives? Yep! Hire a housekeeper. :) I never seem to have time to keep on top of it as often as I would like, so I just hired someone to come in every few weeks to do the deep cleaning.

Thanks Katie for tagging me! Here are my questions:

1.       If there was only one trait from your mother that you could inherit, what would it be?
2.       If money wasn’t an issue, what would your dream job be? Why?
3.       If you could hang out with one celebrity couple for the day, who would it be?
4.       What is your favorite trashy television show that you would hate to admit to the world?
5.       What is the most expensive accessory, aside from bridal jewelry, that you own?
6.       What was that embarrassing story that your parents always told about you to a date?
7.       What is your favorite type of food to eat? To cook?
8.       If you could have been born in any era, what would you choose?
9.        Is your closet currently organized or is it a disaster zone?
10.   How would you describe your decorating style?
11.   What did you have for breakfast this morning?

10 Question (Loves) Friday

Well things are still crazier than ever, but I found this questionnaire about things that I am loving right now and I figured it fit for my 10 Loves Friday. I hope you all enjoy! :)
1. What's your favorite place in the United States?
I really don't have a favorite place. I love different areas of the country at different times of year. New York City is really pretty at Christmas time. Nashville will always have a piece of my heart because it was my first realvacation with Michael and is country, country, country. Oh yeah…Disneyland will always have a special place in my heart too. :)

2. Where would you love to visit that you've never been before?
New Orleans and Savannah. Those are definitely on the list of must see places!

 3. Favorite song you're loving right now?
Eden’s Edge- Amen is the song I find myself playing on my itunes the most lately. For some reason I just love that song right now!

4. Good book recommendation?
I loved The Paris Wife! It was written by Paula McLain
Overview (from Barnes & Noble's website)
A deeply evocative story of ambition and betrayal, The Paris Wife captures a remarkable period of time and a love affair between two unforgettable people: Ernest Hemingway and his wife Hadley.
Chicago, 1920: Hadley Richardson is a quiet twenty-eight-year-old who has all but given up on love and happiness—until she meets Ernest Hemingway and her life changes forever. Following a whirlwind courtship and wedding, the pair set sail for Paris, where they become the golden couple in a lively and volatile group—the fabled “Lost Generation”—that includes Gertrude Stein, Ezra Pound, and F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald.
Though deeply in love, the Hemingways are ill prepared for the hard-drinking and fast-living life of Jazz Age Paris, which hardly values traditional notions of family and monogamy. Surrounded by beautiful women and competing egos, Ernest struggles to find the voice that will earn him a place in history, pouring all the richness and intensity of his life with Hadley and their circle of friends into the novel that will become The Sun Also Rises. Hadley, meanwhile, strives to hold on to her sense of self as the demands of life with Ernest grow costly and her roles as wife, friend, and muse become more challenging. Despite their extraordinary bond, they eventually find themselves facing the ultimate crisis of their marriage—a deception that will lead to the unraveling of everything they’ve fought so hard for.
A heartbreaking portrayal of love and torn loyalty, The Paris Wife is all the more poignant because we know that, in the end, Hemingway wrote that he would rather have died than fallen in love with anyone but Hadley.
5. What's your best quality?
I'm a bright side kind of person - it's always half full. Some people find this quality annoying, but some days it’s the only way I am able to get through the day.

6. What is something about yourself you'd like to change?
Just one thing? I would probably change a half dozen things if I could…but the main thing is my drive to clean. I love my house being clean, but I never seem to find the time it takes to actually keep it clean. With 3 dogs and a cat it feels like there is always hair on the floors…even 30 minutes after I clean. It is so frustrating sometimes!

7. What is the number one thing you hope to accomplish in 2012?
Pay off all of our debt!

8. What is your favorite project that you've ever accomplished?
Well I am in the middle of accomplishing it right now, but I am really starting to love the look of our house. Floors go in next week, furniture gets here next month and the painting is about half done. :)

9. What is the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you?
I have had a lot of nice things done for me, but the one that sticks out the most is my MIL throwing Michael and I a reception after we got married. I absolutely loved it and it was beyond gorgeous. It really was more than I could have asked for and I will always be grateful to her for that day.

10. Favorite kitchen or home improvement tool?
My Kitchen Aid mixer gets a ton of use now. :)

Been Awhile...

Well I am back after a long break. A lot has happened since I last wrote…Hawaii, a death, a family member spending 10 days in the hospital and near death, having my final interviews for BBBS…oh yeah, the renovations on the house has officially begun. Some days I feel like I can’t see straight with how much is on my plate. I know I work best under pressure, but that pressure doesn’t leave much time for writing in my blog.

Anyway, Hawaii was a blast! It was a jammed packed couple of days to say the least. The hotel was beautiful and we were on the top floor in a gorgeous condo. We went whale watching and I adopted a Humpback Whale named Powell. :) We went zip lining, ate at a Luau, saw a couple of shows and of course did some major damage shopping. Here are a few photos from our trip.
